FRAMINGHAM, Mass., March 11, 2016 – Rave Mobile Safety, creator of innovative data and communication software that public safety agencies trust to help them save lives, today announced that Smart911, the life-saving, national safety service, is a 2016 BIG Innovation Award winner. The BIG Innovation Awards selection of Smart911 reiterates the importance of this service that helps emergency responder’s improve their response time, ultimately leading to greatly enhanced public safety – and saved lives.
The BIG Innovation Awards recognize those organizations and people who “bring new ideas to life.” Conducted by The Business Intelligence Group (BIG) seeks out and rewards those with vision, creativity and persistence, all hallmarks found in the world's leading companies and individuals across the globe. Since 2012, BIG has recognized and rewarded hundreds of business executives, departments, products and entire organizations for their innovation and leadership.
Organizations from across the globe submitted their recent innovations for consideration in the 2016 BIG Innovation Awards. Nominations were then judged by a select group of business leaders and executives who volunteer their time and expertise to score submissions and provide feedback.
“We are honored to receive this award as it underscores the importance of Smart911 as a critical tool that helps consumers improve their safety,” said Tom Axbey, president and CEO, Rave Mobile Safety. “No matter the type of emergency, having a Smart911 profile created prior to an event occurring truly can be the difference between life and death.”
Individuals can visit www.smart911.com to sign up and create a free Safety Profile for their household, providing information such as the names and photos of family members, health conditions, medications, pets in the home, vehicle details and emergency contacts. All information in each profile is voluntary, and each household can determine what details are important to include, as each household is different and therefore the potential rescue needs will also vary. Smart911 is private and secure, and is only made available to 9-1-1 when an emergency call is made.
Smart911 is currently available in 40 states and more than 1,500 municipalities. It has been credited with positively impacting emergency situations and saving lives across the U.S., including a missing child case in Arkansas, a heart attack victim in Tennessee and a man trapped in a house fire in Michigan. As a national service, anytime a person with a Smart911 profile dials 9-1-1 in any location in the US that support Smart911, their profile will appear to dispatchers allowing for more information to be available at the time of an emergency.
