The Honolulu Police Department has changed the way it handles 911 calls. The department Wednesday introduced a new initiative in public safety, Smart911. It's a free service allowing members to provide information they want first responders to have in case of an emergency. To sign up, users can create an online safety profile on the Smart911 website.(https://www.smart911.com/). You can input household members’ health information, including medical conditions, disabilities, or allergies. You can also include security codes, family members’ photographs, and even pet information. The profiles are stored in a Smart911 database with multiple security features and will only be used in the event of an emergency.
