August 22, 2016
KINGSVILLE (KIII NEWS) - Students and faculty at Texas A&M University-Kingsville (TAMUK) are starting off the school year
knowing they have an extra safety took available to them -- an app called "Rave Guardian."
This will be the third year the university has implemented the use of the app. It is a mobile personal security app students download onto either their iPhones or Android phones and it gives them a direct line to campus police. It has several features including peer-to-peer alerts.
Last year, several students used the app to take video of suspicious activities around campus. One of them led to an arrest.
To download the app students need to have a registered email with TAMUK. The app is free.
