MUNCIE, Ind. - For the first time in central Indiana, Smart911 is being offered to Muncie residents for free.
Muncie officials announced the program, provided to the city by AT&T, on Wednesday. The service gives dispatchers personal information when you call in an emergency.
Residents can create a secure online profile, listing a name, address, medical conditions and any other information that could be helpful to first responders.
Emergency dispatchers can pull up that profile any time you call, cutting down response time when you need help.
"Sometimes adults get a little too caught up in the moment and they can't really think of everything right offhand when everything's going on," resident Jodie Slusher said.
Smart911 is a private, secure service that is completely free to use.
Residents’ information will only be used in cases of emergency. Click here to learn more or sign up for Smart911.
