New Castle Co. Launches Smart911 Aimed at Saving Time

New Castle County is launching a new program that aims to save critical moments for 911 callers.

Public safety officials announced Tuesday that the county will be the first location in the state to offer Smart911.

Residents can create a profile so emergency responders know how many people or pets are in the household, the locations of bedrooms or whether household members have medical conditions.

County government spokesman Antonio Prado says when someone calls 911, the profile will be displayed and the call taker can use the information to dispatch the proper response.

Residents can go to Smart911.com to set up a profile.
