Muskegon, Montcalm Counties Add Smart911 Program
Two more Michigan counties have added Smart911 to their dispatch centers.
Smart911 is a secure online program that provides dispatchers pertinent information about the caller. Users voluntarily create a Safety Profile for their households, which can include everything from medial history to how many bedrooms rooms they have in their house.
“Those valuable seconds or even minutes we can save by dispatching the appropriate response teams immediately can be lifesaving,” said Shawn Grabinski, Muskegon Central Dispatch Director.
Emergency calls made on cellular devices do not provide exact location or information about the caller. Dispatches said the Smart911 information used in a time of emergency can make all the difference.
Nine other Michigan counties use Smart911, including Ottawa, Eaton and Ionia. You can create your profile at Smart911.com.
