Smart911 Selected for Enhancements that Bring PSAPs Closer to Next-Generation 9-1-1 Compliance
Rave Mobile Safety, a leading provider of safety software solutions, today announced that Public Safety Communications (PSC), a monthly publication published by Elsevier Public Safety on behalf of the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International, announces the selection of the first-ever People’s Choice Award. Smart911 2.0, displayed in the New Product Pavilion at APCO’s annual conference, was given the award during the 77th Annual APCO International Conference & Expo in Philadelphia.
Rave Mobile Safety’s solution was recognized for its enhanced features that put Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) on a path to Next-Generation 9-1-1 compliance and dramatically improve safety for their municipalities. Seven companies submitted nine products for consideration in the premiere People’s Choice opportunity. Presentations of the products were conducted on site at the APCO Conference, and attendees voted for their favorite product.
Smart911 is a public safety solution that allows citizens to enter personal safety information online, which is then automatically available to a 9-1-1 call taker in the event the citizen calls 9-1-1. The latest version of Smart911 will provide additional language options for citizens and enables simple registration through Facebook, making it even easier for citizens to register for the free service. Smart911 2.0 also features advanced reporting, allowing PSAPs to analyze and benchmark their performance against similar PSAPs in their region or across the U.S. The latest version includes multi-lingual registration and account management sites, and fields for pet information and additional photos, such as a home photo, to further assist first responders in citizen response.
Smart911 is a free service available to all citizens that allows them to create a robust Safety Profile by inputting vital information about themselves and their families through a secure on-line database. When 9-1-1 is dialed, the system gives first responders immediate access to this life-saving information, which dramatically improves emergency outcomes and can help save lives. Smart911 2.0 provides advanced PSAP reporting, enhanced consumer registration options, and is the industry’s first and only National Additional Data Provider that meets recommendations in the National Emergency Number Association (NENA) i3 Technical Requirements Document.
“We are honored to be recognized as the recipient of the very first People’s Choice Award by Public Safety Communications and APCO, among worthy competitors,” said Tom Axbey, president and CEO of Rave Mobile Safety. “We continuously strive to remain ahead of industry standards so that PSAPs across the country can not only meet Next-Generation 9-1-1 requirements, but improve emergency outcomes within their municipalities. The award is a testament to these efforts and we are proud to have unveiled Smart911 2.0 at such a prominent event that brings together some of the most innovative public safety professionals in the country.”
