A Call for Smart 911
The City of Searcy is gearing up to launch a new smart 9-1-1 system, that will help first responders have more in-depth information about a disabled person or anyone during an emergency situation.
Now the Arkansas Schools for the Deaf and Blind along with Little Rock 9-1-1 are pushing to bring it to all Arkansans, but it will take a lot of time and money.
Todd Miller is one of the creators.
Miller says creating a new kind of profile will allow 9-1-1 call-takers to see more than just a number and general address.
The process involves uploading vital information into a computer database…like a photo…physical description of yourself, medical conditions, disabilities, allergies and rescue needs.
Smart 9-1-1 is already operating in about 20 other states.
